Neo Bartalism
This catalogue was edited for the Neo Bartalism solo exhibition of artist Eitan Bartal shown in 2017. A special text written for this catalogue, analyses this exhibition in the context of Bartal’s previous professional and artistic works. In this exhibition, Bartal, who is a designer and artist whose works have been prominent on the Israeli scene since the 1990’s, makes an extensive use of new technologies. By integrating surveillance, robotics, image processing and machine learning technologies he explores the implications of new technologies on mechanisms of control and propaganda, on capitalist power centers, feminism, religion, and on cultural and political stereotypes dominant within with the Arab-Israel conflict. In analysing Bartal’s work this text is referring to post phenomenology, new media theory, philosophy and digital culture studies.
