Art, Science and Technology

An Israeli Perspective

St. Petersburg, Russia, Erarta Museum of Contemporary Art

21/11/2016 — 23/11/2016

This exhibition “Art, Science and Technology – an Israeli perspective”, shown in Erarta Museum of Contemporary Art in St. Petersburg, was the second in a series of two exhibitions dedicated to New Media Art from Israel. Like the former exhibition which took place in Kiev in 2014, this exhibition too displayed artwork created in Israel by artists adopting practices from the fields of science and technology.

As in the exhibition shown in Kiev, among the works presented, some are based on studies conducted in the fields of robotics, surveillance technologies, video mapping, brain research, information technology and artificial intelligence.

This exhibition challenged the traditional exhibition display, by allowing the merging of the works one into another through the interaction of the visitors in the gallery space. Visitors were invited to interact and participate with the different exhibits, while maintaining a critical perspective and touching upon complex theoretical issues.
