Merging Biology with Architecture: Collaborative models
This Lecture focused on potential of the implementation of biological concepts within the architectural discipline, based on collaborations between architects and scientists from different fields of Life-Sciences. As a case study for such collaborations I presented joint research projects which were conducted for the lifeObject exhibition, shown at the Israeli Pavilion in the 15th Venice Biennale for Architecture. The outcomes of these researches were speculative scientific-architectural scenarios, relating to local and global architectural and planning issues. The lecture examined new methodologies for architecture and urban planning discarding the binary distinction between nature and culture. Curatorial issues related to this exhibition which was conceived as a platform for multidisciplinary research have also been discussed.
